iPhone 5 News

If you have been searching the internet looking for iPhone 5 pictures you have probably been disappointed. There are no official pictures of the new iPhone 5 yet and according to the latest rumors Apple are actually working on three different prototypes. One of the prototypes is said to be very similar to the iPhone 4 whilst another is said to contain a slide out keyboard.
Most people have stated that they don’t expect to see any radical changes being made to how the iPhone5 will look from the outside especially when you consider the fact that Apple has hardly changed the design of the iPhone from the original to the 3G or the 3GS. The iPhone 4 did see a few changes what with the retina display which has proved to be a massive success.

If you do look for iPhone 5 pictures you are probably just going to see photoshop creations or pictures of the current iphone 5. There are some pictures of the iPhone 5 circulating the internet and the one of the iPhone 5 prototype with the slide out keyboard does look really impressive. Again this is not an official Apple iphone 5 picture so we really can’t say for sure if it is the real thing or not. I’m sure as June gets even closer there will be plenty of iPhone 5 pictures released and you will be able to see what the new iPhone 5 is going to look like.
When it comes to iPhone 5 pictures and ones that you really can trust you are better off waiting for Apple to release them. At least then you will know that these are iPhone 5 pictures and you will know exactly what to expect when this next generation iPhone is released.

iPad Display Shortages Linked to Light Leakage on LG-Produced Units

DigiTimes reports that LG Display was one of the primary sources of iPad supply issues last quarter, experiencing problems with light leakage on displays produced by its manufacturing lines that scaled back shipments. The issue is said to have been resolved, with display shipments to Apple’s assembly partners ramping up this quarter.

Apple released iOS 4.3.3 (4.2.8 for Verizon iPhones) last Wednesday, less than three weeks after the previous software update. The new firmware included a fix for the location tracking file that Apple has gotten into so much water over (is that considered Cider?).
Chances are, most of you didn’t consider 4.3.3 big enough to update from 4.3.2. But with the Verizon iPad 2 problem fixed and the infamous tracking bug patched, we may not see another update until iOS 5 is released. If that’s the case, then this will likely be the last jailbreak for several months, so why not update?Currently all iDevices that are compatible with Apple’s latest firmware can be jailbroken, excluding the iPad 2. There is still no jailbreak solution for Apple’s latest tablet, but the Dev Team did give us a status update yesterday. For every other device sporting iOS 4.3.3, there are currently 3 ways to get the job done.
RedSn0w, PwnageTool, and Sn0wbreeze have all been patched to support the new iOS update. Each method uses i0n1c‘s untether exploit and Geohot’s bootrom exploit from LimeRa1n, but all 3 are different and have their own benefits. If you need help sorting through all of the information, iDB has you covered.

1. PwnageTool – This software has been around for 3 years. It’s released by the Dev Team, who are widely known in the jailbreak community, but it’s only available for Mac users. However, if you have the option, PwnageTool is highly recommend for unlockers who need to preserve their baseband. It also has some neat options like pre-installing Cydia packages and sources. After PwnageTool jailbreaks the new firmware, you load it onto your device via iTunes.

2. RedSn0w – This application is also pushed out by the infamous Dev Team, and is available for both Mac and Windows platforms. For folks who don’t need the extra customization options, RedSn0w is your best bet. Once you point it toward the proper firmware, the software takes care of the rest. No need for popping back into iTunes.

3. Sn0wbreeze – Developed by the young hacker iH8sn0w, this method is currently the only one that supports Verizon iPhones on 4.2.8. Like PwnageTool, it also allows you to preserve your baseband for future unlock capabilities. You can enable custom boot logos as well as hidden multitouch gestures. Also, like PwnageTool, Sn0wbreeze creates a custom IPSW file that you’ll use iTunes to restore with. Although it’s loaded with features, it’s also the one we seem to get the most complaints about. Therefore, it’s not recommended for those looking to simply install Cydia.
Hopefully that cleared some things up for the curious. Those are currently the only 3 methods available to jailbreak iOS 4.3.3, though the Chronic Dev Team has been rumored to be working on a new version of Greenp0is0n.

No Signal iPhone Problems: Your Discussions

If you are sick and tired of your iPhone displaying ‘No Service’ or ‘Searching…’ in the top left hand corner, due to signal problems – join the discussion and have your say here.
On May 3rd I did an article entitled ‘Apple iPhone 3GS Or O2: Signal Issues?’, as I keep getting the message ‘No Service’ appear on my iPhone 3GS. Now I was not sure if the problem was with the device or my network service provider O2.
However, from the comments I have received back on this issue, it would appear that the problem lies at the feet of Apple and their devices. A number of people replied who are experiencing the same signal problems and not all of them are on O2, the problem has been happening to some iPhone users on Orange/T-Mobile and AT&T in the USA.Another thing that has come from the comments, is that the loss of signal is not just happening on the iPhone 3GS, but also iPhone 4. We all know that there was a signal issue with the iPhone 4 when it released, apply named the ‘Smart Phone grip of death’. However, this latest issue does not seem to stem from that.

Someone that commented back under the alias iPhone user, stated:
“Yes, I have the exact same problem. I thought perhaps I was the only one. Try turning off your 3G via settings > General > Netrowk > Enable 3G: off. This actually works really well and saves your battery. Its a shame though because I used to get full signal on O2 and I too have an iPhone 3GS. I live within the Berkshire area, i have been having this problem for about 4 weeks now and I am confused as to if the fault lies within the actual iPhone itself or O2?
Please let me know if this helps.

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately, it did not work for me – but it may help others hopefully.
So I put this to you Apple – PLEASE SORT THE SIGNAL ISSUE OUT, your customers are getting more and more disgruntled with the service you are providing (no doubt this plea will fall on deaf ears, so unfortunately – it is business as usual). Please keep you comments coming in, as the saying goes ‘strength in numbers’, so one day Apple may decide to take notice of their customers rather than lining their pockets with our money. Can’t wait for my upgrade!

iPad 2 Light Bleeding Problem Attributed To LCD Panels Produced By LG

When iPad 2 was launched, some users reported that they’re experiencing excessive level of light bleeding from the edges of the LCD panel.
DigiTimes reports that the issue was due to the LCD panels produced by LG, who had to reduce the shipments due to the problem. It was the reason for Apple’s surprisingly low iPad 2 shipments in the last quarter.
Apple announced that it sold 4.69 million iPads in the last quarter, which was much below analyst expectations.DigiTimes reports:
. . .Samsung Electronics shipped a total of four million 9.7-inch panels for iPads in the first quarter, outpacing rival LG Display (LGD) as the largest tablet PC panel supplier for Apple, the sources indicated. LGD’s iPad panel shipments reached only 3.2 million units in the first quarter.
LGD was forced to reduce its shipments in the first quarter due to light leakage problem for panels produced at its 6G production lines. The company reportedly has fixed the problem and will resume shipment momentum to Apple in the second quarter, said the sources.

Here’s the description of the light bleeding issue:
The issue is characterized by light bleeding through from the outer edges of the LCD panel. The bleeding is most noticeable when watching a dark scene in a movie or using an app with a black background as demonstrated in the picture above and video embedded after the break. For those affected, the issue can be minimized or exacerbated by adjusting the brightness in settings.
